Nomad Two Worlds began as a steeply messaged artistic collaboration project between internationally renowned Australian photographer Russell James and Australian Indigenous artists. It has since expanded into additional cultural collaborations worldwide, established the Nomad Two Worlds Foundation, and evolved into a socially responsible global business whose mission is two-fold:
To raise awareness of the beauty and rich cultural history of Indigenous people worldwide, with traditional art, music, children’s health and family, self-esteem and cultural pride at the heart of Nomad’s creative, educational and philanthropic activities; and
To collaborate with Indigenous artists, and artists from marginalized communities, to create culturally relevant contemporary art and consumer products which provide long-term economic benefit to the artists and further the public’s understanding and appreciation of the world’s most threatened cultures and communities.
INNOCENCE. INHIBITION. DISCOVERY.
Created by world renowned photographer Russell James, NOMAD TWO WORLDS began as a collaborative art project with Indigenous artists. In the last decade it has evolved from James' individual attempt to understand the clash of ancient and modern cultures he witnessed growing up in Australia to what it is today - a powerful expression of partnership, reconciliation, and economic opportunity in action through art, music and film that has become a global example of true collaboration across deep cultural divides. The Nomad Two Worlds Foundation was established to support and promote artists from Indigenous and marginalized communities around the world.
The inspiration for this Foundation was the original Nomad Two Worlds art collection, created by internationally renowned photographer Russell James in collaboration with Australian Indigenous artists . The original collection has grown to include collaborative works with Native American artisans, and Haitian artisans in cooperation with the Clinton Global Initiative and Donna Karan’s Urban Zen Foundation.
