INHIBITION KARAWARRA
Translation: Day Break
Photograph by Russell James. Collaborative art by Clifton Bieundurry (AUS).
5’ x 7’ archival pigment ink printed on rag cotton with acrylic and ochre applications.
James’ photograph represents the heated skies that remain at the end of a long period of fire and Inhibition created from recent cultural conflict.
Bieundurry’s collaborative art represents acknowledgement of surroundings; the acceptance of conflict whilst remaining aware and respectful of the environment and its people. Walmajarri people maintain a vigilant affinity with their environment and a respect for their land and the nurturing it provides for them, regardless of what conflicts may be taking place upon the land.
The art piece represents the acknowledgement of a fiery time and the reminder to remain respectful and aware to the real environment that always exists.
